College Records Fall Internship

Program Office/Description: 

The Office of College and University Evaluation (OCUE) provides regulatory oversight of public, private, and proprietary degree-granting institutions in New York State and the programs of study offered by those institutions. Additionally, OCUE is the custodian of transcripts for several closed colleges.

The Assignment (Description of Job): 

OCUE is looking for a Fall intern to assist with the following duties:

1. Draft information updates for the OCUE website: Conduct research to verify accuracy, organize content, and draft updates for publication on the website.

2. Support data cleanup efforts: Request college charters from the Regents Office, analyze and compare charter information with existing system data, and support reconciliation across С槼ºÖ±²¥ systems to ensure consistency.

3. Assist with records management: Assist in documenting, organizing, and maintaining records from closed colleges held by the New York State Education Department.

Intern will also have the opportunity to learn about:

  • Structure of the New York State Education Department
  • Regulation of degree-granting institutions in New York State
  • Closure of degree-granting institutions
Desired Skills, Abilities, & Educational Background: 

Strong communication skills (writing, speaking), computer literacy, experience with Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel), strong interest in public administration and/or higher education administration, completed junior year (or higher) of a bachelor's program, open to all majors.

Schedule/Hours: 

20 hours per week to be scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Schedules will be made directly with the supervisor.

Paid Internship Hourly Rates: 

This is a paid internship: Associates and Undergraduate students will earn $16/hour, and Graduate students will earn $19/hour.
